Emma Trudgill
Clinical Advisor - Children
Emma has worked as a registered midwife for just over 11 years. She has worked supporting families with a neonatal brain injury both through the clinical setting and through serious case reviews. She also has experience leading a social prescribing service assisting in the signposting and advice for families with children under 5 with complex needs, arising from their health condition.
Emma now provides supporting advice to assist whereby there may be a claim for compensation.
Jacob Corrin
Clinical Advisor
Before working with BIG, Jacob completed a medical degree which included placements in neurology and stroke medicine. He therefore has an understanding of the mechanisms behind brain injuries and their subsequent treatment.
He also volunteered at the Clatterbridge Rehabilitation Centre where he gained a deeper understanding of patients’ journeys to recovery. Before medicine, Jacob completed a law degree and so understands the legal challenges surrounding life-changing injuries.
Mr Paul Grundy
Head of Clinical Services
With nearly 20 years of experience as a neurosurgeon, Mr Grundy brings a wealth of expertise and accolades to the team, including being honoured as the UK’s Clinical Leader of the Year in 2012 and being listed among the top 100 medical leaders in the UK in 2013.
With a strong background in neuro-oncology, Mr Grundy significantly enhances the Brain Injury Group’s resources and services, ensuring that clients receive the highest standard of care. His extensive experience in brain tumour treatment and neurosurgery will provide invaluable expertise for those navigating the complexities of brain injuries.
Georgina Davies
Rehabilitation and Partnership Lead
Georgina’s background is as a Clinical Specialist in Physiotherapy with 17 years of experience in the NHS. She has worked as a clinician and manager in a variety of specialist areas including intensive care units, neurological, orthopaedic, musculoskeletal, palliative and paediatric services. She also has experience in rehabilitation units, long term ventilation units, complex case management and discharge processes.
Her role at Brain Injury Group includes providing specialist clinical advice, signposting clients to appropriate rehabilitation facilities and supporting in clinics. She is focused on holistic care and achieving best client outcomes.
Kate Dixon
Welfare Rights Advisor
Kate has 14 years of personal experience caring for a loved one with a severe brain injury, combined with professional expertise in welfare rights, housing support, and accessing grants and adaptations. She provides financial guidance on state welfare entitlements and offers practical advice on housing and adaptations for those affected by injury. With both lived and professional experience, Kate is dedicated to helping others navigate these complex challenges with understanding and support.
Alex Demetrious-Seymour
Chief Executive Officer
Alex’s group of businesses has supported in excess of 180,000 clients throughout the litigation process with expert witness reports and rehabilitation.
The vast majority of clients have sustained life changing injuries.
Alex is passionate about rehabilitation, access to justice and client care.
Clare Harrison
Chief Operating Officer
Clare has worked supporting those with brain injuries for the last 18 years. Her expertise is in providing financial guidance and support to injured people and their families. She also has experience providing financial expert witness reports to assist where there may be a claim for compensation.
More recently she has headed up both operations and strategy teams ensuring that the right team, processes and support is in place to provide the right guidance when it is needed most.
James Robins
Head of Communications
James is the key contact for professionals, and Brain Injury Group members, on the Support Directory. With over 15 years’ marketing and account management experience, James enjoys building strong relationships with clients and supporting charities to deliver amazing events.
James works closely with the Brain Injury Group team to deliver webinars, conferences and events.
If you don’t see James in the office, you’ll often see him participating in sporting activities raising money for charities.
Francis Lacy-Scott
Consultant Legal Training Adviser
Francis is the co-founder of BIG and has been the training advisor to the group ever since. He has now retired from practising as a solicitor having founded the Sussex based firm, ASB Aspire LLP, a specialist catastrophic injury firm, where he was senior partner, specialising in complex TBI claims. Francis previously chaired Headway Hurstwood Park (now Headway Sussex) for a number of years. He is currently chair of the Sussex Acquired Brain Injury Forum (SABIF).
He has been nationally recognised for his work in the field of brain injury by being awarded the prestigious UKABIK award for innovation. In 2021 he was named by the Legal 500 as the UK (outside London) insurance lawyer of the year. He is passionate about high quality, innovative but practical training.
Alex Pett
Head of Client Support Team & Clinical Advisor
Alex brings his medical background to the BIG team, having previously earned his degree in Medicine from the University of Manchester.
Ever since graduating he has been learning his craft in the medicolegal industry, now heading the Clinical Negligence and Serious Injury department at UKExpertMedical, alongside his role with us at BIG.
Alex has considerable years of experience dealing with serious injuries in both the clinical and legal settings, having provided care and service to patients and clients alike throughout his career.
Ikshya Chhetri
Advisor
Ikshya has completed an LLB Hons in Law and an LLM Masters in Law. In addition to her role at BIG, she has worked in both the legal industry and the medico-legal sector since 2015, helping clients who have medical negligence issues including brain injuries.
She has worked instructing medical experts for rehabilitation and clinicians on behalf of clients and their legal representatives.
Ikshya has also taken legal and medical training in spinal injury and birth related brain injury.
Daniel Mallard
Advisor
Daniel works as an advisor for BIG, bringing his knowledge as a Team Manager in the Clinical Negligence and Serious Injury Department in the medico-legal industry.
He has over ten years’ experience supporting injured individuals. His cases have covered Neurology and Neuropsychology and brain injury clients where a multiple disciplinary approach has been required, involving multiple specialities.
He is driven by the ethos of helping his clients from initial injury and throughout the rehabilitation process. He has also worked as a volunteer.
David White
Brain Injury Group Ambassador
David White is a traumatic brain injury survivor, award-winning advocate and passionate peer supporter who brings his own lived experience to his role as Brain Injury Group Ambassador.
Following a severe brain injury during the COVID-19 pandemic, David spent months in hospital and underwent several years of intensive rehabilitation. His recovery transformed his outlook and inspired him to support others facing the challenges of life after brain injury.
David now works closely with people living with brain and spinal injuries, offering reassurance, practical support and a positive perspective on life after injury. He founded NeuroBuds, a peer-support network bringing people with brain and spinal injuries together, and also runs a family and friends’ support group with Headway Cardiff.
His dedication has earned him national recognition, including UK National Health Heroes Healthcare Volunteer of the Year and Wales Social Enterprise StartUp of the Year in 2025.
As Brain Injury Group Ambassador, David is committed to helping survivors and their families feel less alone, access the right support and understand that there can be life — and purpose — after brain injury.
