Introducing the Brain Injury Group Neuro Champions
Sponsored Place on an RHN Academy Nursing Module
We are pleased to announce that we have sponsored a fully funded place on the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disabilityās (RHN) Neurorehabilitation Nursing Practice academic module ā validated in partnership with Kingston University in London.
The accredited nursing module offers the registered nurse who has been chosen the chance to build advanced knowledge and practical skills in neuro-disability care through a full term of postgraduate, credit-bearing study.
Upon being selected, the candidate will be nominated as the Brain Injury Group Neuro Champion during and upon completion of the course.
The Neurorehabilitation Nursing Practice Module
Brain Injury Group is proud to sponsor a nurse, hand-picked through an internal application process, to undertake the Neurorehabilitation Nursing Practice Module, which runs from September to November 2026.
This post-graduate nursing module develops advanced knowledge and skills for delivering safe, effective, and person-centred neurorehabilitation care across the rehabilitation continuum. It explores the principles, models, and policy frameworks underpinning neurorehabilitation, alongside the specialist nursing role within interdisciplinary teams.
Learners will integrate advanced knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and neuroplasticity with holistic assessment and evidence-based interventions for people living with complex neurological conditions. The module also focuses on family-centred care, long-term condition management, safeguarding, leadership, service improvement, and quality enhancement. Overall, it aims to strengthen the specialist nursing workforceās capability to provide high-quality, personalised care across diverse neurological rehabilitation settings.
Brain Injury Group’s First Neuro Champion
Coralyn Dooma is Brain Injury Groupās first Neuro Champion to receive sponsorship through the organisation. On Tuesday 22 September, Coralyn will begin the Neurorehabilitation Nursing Practice academic module, marking an important milestone in her professional development and in BIGās commitment to supporting the growth of neurorehabilitation nursing practice.
Originally from the Philippines, Coralyn has lived and worked in the UK for the past seven years. She was recently promoted to Ward Manager of Drapers Ward, a specialist brain injury neurorehabilitation ward, where she continues to develop her leadership and clinical practice.
For Coralyn, the sponsorship provides an opportunity to build on her existing experience by strengthening her theoretical knowledge and translating this into evidence-based practice.
āThe sponsorship means I can engage in the course to strengthen my theoretical knowledge and apply this in evidence-based practice to continue to develop.ā
She also highlighted the importance of partnering with Brain Injury Group, noting the strong alignment between BIGās ethos and her own professional and personal values.
āPartnering with BIG is important to me as BIGās ethos aligns with my professional and personal ethics of advocating for patients and families.ā
As BIGās first sponsored Neuro Champion, Coralynās journey represents an exciting step in her continuing professional development and reflects the value of investing in specialist knowledge, leadership and evidence-based practice within neurorehabilitation.
Two More Places Available Soon…
Brain Injury Group will be selecting two more registered nurses to fully sponsor and fund on the RHN Academy neuro module of their choice, all taught inside a national specialist hospital, for the second intake ā starting in January.
There is a growing demand for specialist expertise in neuro-disability and neurorehabilitation. By investing in professional learning in partnership with RHN Academy, Brain Injury Group strives to take a small step towards closing this neurological care gap.
Through supporting nursesā professional development, we aim to help equip individuals at the forefront of caregiving with the further knowledge and practical skills to make a meaningful difference for those affected by brain injury.
More information about these brain injury training modules can be found below. BIG Neuro Champion applications will be open between 28th September ā 30th November 2026. To register your interest, email enquiries@braininjurygroup.co.uk.
