Warren Collins, head of catastrophic injury at Simpson Millar, a member of the Brain Injury Group, has taken home not one but two prestigious awards in the past week. On 21 November, Warren was presented with the Stephen McAleese Award for Inspiration at the annual conference of UKABIF (United Kingdom Acquired Brain Injury Forum).  The Award for Inspiration was open to all brain injury professionals and is dedicated to those who go above the duty of their professional calling to support people and families in the most difficult circumstances.

A solicitor who has devoted the past two decades to supporting clients with catastrophic injuries, Warren also has first hand experience of the impact of a brain injury, as the partner of someone with a catastrophic brain injury.

“He has used their experience to educate associated professionals on the difficulties faced by brain injured clients and their families,” wrote UKABIF about Warren and his partner. The organisation aims to promote understanding of all aspects of acquired brain injury.

Warren was recognised again this week on 26 November at the Eclipse Proclaim Personal Injury Awards 2013 when he was awarded Claimant Personal Injury Lawyer of the Year. This award is given to individuals who consistently take on and succeed in challenging cases, who demonstrate outstanding client care and whose achievements are widely recognised by their peers.

Warren commented: “Life after an acquired brain injury is difficult for both the individual and their loved ones. Our job as catastrophic injury lawyers is to try and predict what may lie ahead so that we can seek the appropriate level of compensation and ensure everyone is well cared for. You can only fully do that if you take a genuine interest in the lives of your clients and try to understand their unique circumstances.”
