Mr. Paul Grundy Named Head of Clinical Services at Brain Injury Group

  • Brain Injury Group significantly grows clinical experience within the team, welcoming an accomplished lead consultant neurosurgeon specialising in adult neuro-oncology.
  • Grundy held NHS leadership roles including Clinical Director of Neurosciences, Divisional Clinical Director, Deputy Medical Director, Chief Medical Officer and was honoured as HSJ Awards Clinical Leader of the Year and listed among the top 100 medical leaders in the UK.
  • The appointment enables the Brain Injury Group to identify support gaps in clinical settings for individuals affected by brain injury and offer continued guidance and support after discharge.
 

The Brain Injury Group is proud to announce the appointment of Mr Paul Grundy as its Head of Clinical Services. With nearly 20 years of experience as a neurosurgeon, Mr Grundy brings a wealth of expertise and accolades to the team, including being honoured as the UK’s Clinical Leader of the Year in 2012 and being listed among the top 100 medical leaders in the UK in 2013.

With a strong background in neuro-oncology, Mr Grundy significantly enhances the Brain Injury Group’s resources and services, ensuring that clients receive the highest standard of care. His extensive experience in brain tumour treatment and neurosurgery will provide invaluable expertise for those navigating the complexities of brain injuries.

Mr Grundy’s appointment further strengthens the Brain Injury Group’s ability to identify support gaps in clinical settings and expands the Group’s services, offering expert guidance, compassionate care, and effective post-discharge transition. It also creates opportunities to educate NHS staff about the Group’s services, raising awareness of additional support and guidance that are crucial in helping families adapt to this new reality in the best possible way.

Mr Paul Grundy’s Achievements

Mr Paul Grundy is a highly accomplished lead consultant neurosurgeon specialising in adult neuro-oncology (brain tumours). He graduated with honours from Southampton University Medical School in 1992 and later earned a Doctorate of Medicine (MD) from Bristol University in 2003 in the brain’s response to head injury.

Mr Grundy completed advanced training and fellowships, including working with Professor Andrew Kaye in Melbourne, Australia. He has held key leadership roles, including Clinical Director of Neurosciences, Deputy Medical Director, and Chief Medical Officer at University Hospital Southampton. Mr Grundy has chaired NHS England’s Clinical Reference Groups for CNS tumours and for Neurosciences  between 2013-23 and served as Past-President of the British Neuro-oncology Society (BNOS, 2021-2023).

He was named HSJ Awards Clinical Leader of the Year in 2012 and was listed among the top 100 medical leaders in 2013. Mr Grundy is also actively involved with neurological charities, including being a patron for Brainstrust, a trustee for Smile4Wessex and Chair of the board of trustees of BNOS.
