Malala Yousafzai – the Pakistani schoolgirl who was shot in the head by the Taliban last October –is soon to undergo surgery to replace her missing skull section with a titanium plate.
The missing part of her skull had been placed in her abdomen to keep it alive and ready for replacing. However the fear is this piece may no longer fit so the titanium plate is the better option.
Malala, 15, will also have a hearing sensor inserted in the hope of restoring some sense of sound in her left ear where the eardrum and hearing bones were damaged in the shooting.
