A healthcare partnership set up in Cambridge will bring together patients, inventors, and a range of other sectors to develop technologies for people living with brain injury.
The project, hosted by Cambridge University Hospital and referred to at the Cambridge Brain Injury Healthcare Technology (HTC), is one of 8 similar projects set-up across the country, but the only one to focus on brain injury. It is hoped that by bringing people together who have a brain injury themselves, along with those who work with them, and from related industries, they can build a truly collaborative response and develop medical devises in response to clinical problems.
Prof John Pickard, HTC director and divisional director of neurosciences at Addenbrokes, a regional major trauma network, said: ”The purpose of the HTC’S is to bring the patients, carers, inventors, academia, SME’s, industry and the NHS together to develop technology-based solution to help patients and to help the UK economy.”
