In the lead up to Road Safety Week 2022, we ran a poster competition for children across the UK, to send us a drawing of their favourite form of transport, to be in with the chance of a prize, thanks to sponsorship by Premier Specialist.
The theme of this yearās road safety week was safe roads for all and we wanted children to think about all the different forms of transport that use our roads, including horses, bikes and scooters which featured heavily in our poster competition entries!
We put lots of resources on-line following the theme of different types of transport including colouring pictures, word search, puzzles and a paper plane template for people to download so they could engage with their children during road safety week and talk about staying safe on and around our roads.
We received some amazing entries, a personal favourite of Brain Injury Group was sent in by Dougie, aged 8 whose parent works for one of our member firms, Clarke Willmott. His favourite way to travel is by rollercoaster ā and we have to admit ā that would be a super cool way to commute to work each day!
With entries from children as young as 2 right up to age 13, the variety of entries was vast!
Voting was carried out via social media with our top 30 entries displayed for people to pick their favourites, and finally, we found our 6 winning entries, from Arthur, Max, Dougie, Christian, Grace and Riley.

Thank you to all the schools, members and social media followers who took part in this yearās competition, and to Premier Specialist for sponsoring the event so that each of our winners could receive a bundle of Lego.
Resources remain available on our website, and although the competition is over, weād love to see some more creations!
Stay safe on our roads ā the road safety charity RoSPA estimate that around 1,200 children are injured in traffic related collisions within 500 metres of a school every month ā highlighting why it is so important not only to teach our children about road safety, but to consider ourselves what we can do to help keep children safe and to be prepared for the unexpected.
