Jackson Lees
Introduction to Jackson Lees Group
Jackson Lees Group is an award-winning, full-service law firm with offices across Liverpool, the Wirral and the wider North West. The firm supports individuals and families through some of life’s most challenging moments, with a focus on delivering clear, practical advice and a service that feels genuinely supportive.
As members of the Brain Injury Group, Jackson Lees Group works alongside other specialists who understand the long-term impact a serious injury can have on every aspect of a person’s life.
Court of Protection Department
The Court of Protection team at Jackson Lees Group provides vital support for individuals who no longer have the mental capacity to manage their own financial affairs, often due to a life-changing injury, progressive condition or illness. The department advises families and appointed deputies on how best to safeguard and manage a person’s long-term financial wellbeing, always placing the individual’s needs and wishes at the heart of every decision.
Where a deputy is required, the team guides families through the application process and helps them understand the responsibilities involved in acting on behalf of a vulnerable loved one. In cases involving serious injury, including where substantial compensation awards have been made to fund lifelong care and rehabilitation, the department often acts as a professional deputy. This ensures funds are managed appropriately, transparently and with full accountability—particularly important in brain injury cases, where financial, clinical and emotional needs may evolve over time.
The team is led by experienced legal specialists who work closely with a wide network of professionals, including case managers, therapists, medical experts and financial advisers. This collaborative approach ensures each client receives joined-up support, whether they require home adaptations, ongoing therapy, specialist equipment, financial planning, or support navigating the day-to-day challenges following a serious injury.
Above all, the Court of Protection team is known for its compassion. Many clients and families come to the department during difficult and uncertain times, and the team’s role is not only to manage the legal and financial aspects of deputyship, but also to provide reassurance, clarity and consistent guidance throughout the journey.
Claire Martini, Partner and Head of Court of Protection
Claire leads a dedicated team at Jackson Lees Group supporting individuals who lack the mental capacity to manage their own affairs. Her work focuses primarily on matters arising from serious and catastrophic injuries, including brain injuries, where compensation awards are intended to provide clients with the lifelong resources needed to live safely, independently and with dignity.
Claire began her legal career after completing her law degree in Belfast and her Legal Practice Course in Chester. She spent several years working in personal injury and occupational injury law before transitioning into Court of Protection work more than eight years ago. This background enables her to understand the full client journey—from injury and litigation through to long-term financial management following settlement.
Appointed Deputy Head of the department in August 2024 and subsequently Head of Department in August 2025, Claire has played a key role in shaping the team’s approach and expanding its ability to support highly complex cases. She is also a Director of the Jackson Lees Trust Corporation, which provides professional deputyship services and long-term oversight for high-value awards.
Claire works closely with case managers, therapists, rehabilitation specialists and financial advisers to deliver holistic, person-centred support. Whether assisting families transitioning from litigation to deputyship, planning long-term care arrangements, or supporting clients in achieving personal goals, her focus remains on enabling each individual to live the life they want to lead.
