Steps Ahead Care & Support

Steps Ahead Care & Support was established in 2009 and was launched to be a care company with the right ethos for people. They have continued to evolve over the last 15 years, and have been rated Outstanding by CQC since 2015. With continuous expansion, they now operate across England and provide specialist rehab-based support packages for individuals who have an acquired brain, spinal or other life changing injury. They believe that every individual deserves an exceptional quality service, and are proud of their reputation for taking time to develop trusting relationships with each individual and their family, and taking the time to build a specialist support team around the clients support needs, wants and interests.

As an organisation, Steps Ahead Care & Support are determined to innovate and develop their services to continue to be market leaders in rehab-based support at home. Their support is centred around clients having fun, enjoying their rehab and encouraging positive, managed, risk taking. Their dedication to continuous improvement is only made possible by collaborative working, not only with professionals but with their staff and clients too, to make sure the rehab and support being provided is ever-changing, along with their clients’ needs.

They have been able to adapt to the modern world and develop their knowledge to ensure their clients are always getting the very best out of them. Part of this has been extensive research into planning and organising trips abroad for their clients. Every person deserves to lead the life they want, and most importantly have the opportunity to experience new things, whether that be a concert, festival, football game or holiday abroad. A fundamental part of their work is encouraging positive risk-taking and working with other organisations to promote the benefits of managed risk-taking and fun for clients. This year, their biggest achievement has to be planning and facilitating a trip to Disneyworld Florida for one of their clients with his support team.

Their work and experience, particularly with taking clients abroad, is being recognised across the sector and they have been working hard to expand their services so it isn’t only their clients that can benefit from abroad trips and new experiences, but they can help plan, organise, risk assess and provide staff for anyone who is looking to travel, attend a music festival or try something new. Most recently, they have spoken at the Care Managers Conference for the National Care Forum, and are working with Directors from CQC to help re-write policy on positive-risk taking for all.
