Brain Injury is BIG
Welcome to Brain Injury is BIG, a support group for people who have loved ones with devastating brain injuries. They may be severely disabled, in a persistent vegetative state, minimally aware, conscious or locked in.
Brain Injury was BIG was started by Anne, Judy, Lois, Lynne and Sue. We got to know each other on Devonshire Ward, Royal Hospital for Neuro-Disability in Putney back in 2009. We wanted to use our personal experiences to encourage other families to help and support each other. We’ve all experienced those early exhausting and frightening days in Intensive Care. We didn’t understand what was happening but we hoped for the best. We’ve all been through the struggles of finding suitable long term care and the pressures of living with the situation. Many of us will also have experienced the loss and grief when our loved ones have finally been taken from us.
We provide emotional support over the telephone, the online forum, on social media, and through regular meets ups. We can also provide financial assistance through our grant scheme. These grants can help with travel costs, therapy sessions or necessary equipment.
