Manchester Occupational Therapy Services

Manchester Occupational Therapy Services (MOTS) is an independent Occupational Therapy service providing specialist assessment, rehabilitation and practical support for children, young people and adults across Greater Manchester and the Northwest. Based in Stockport, our team provides support in people’s homes, schools, workplaces and community settings depending on individual needs.

We have experience supporting individuals with acquired and traumatic brain injury, including people experiencing physical, cognitive, sensory, emotional and functional difficulties.

Our assessments focus on understanding what matters to the individual and identifying practical ways to maximise independence, safety, function and quality of life. This may include assessment of daily living activities, cognitive and executive functioning, fatigue, physical skills, upper limb function, mobility, routines, community access and the impact of difficulties within the home, school, work or other environments.

Following assessment, we provide individualised recommendations and rehabilitation tailored to the person’s needs and goals. We can provide detailed reports to support rehabilitation planning and wider care planning.

MOTS accepts referrals through a range of pathways, including independent referrals, case management referrals, solicitors and Service Level Agreements. We can provide one-off specialist assessments as well as short-term or longer-term rehabilitation.

We work within schools and other organisations, providing assessment, intervention, training and ongoing support.

Our team works closely with the wider multidisciplinary team and recognises the importance of effective communication and collaborative working following brain injury. We liaise with families, carers, case managers, solicitors, insurers, support workers and other professionals involved in an individual’s care.

Our support can include:

– One-off specialist assessments and recommendations

– Short-term or longer-term rehabilitation

– Ongoing Occupational Therapy intervention

– Equipment and environmental assessments

– Vocational rehabilitation

– School-based assessment and intervention

– Training and support for families, carers and organisations

Across our team of experienced Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants, we currently support multiple clients with brain injury.
